H.E. Ambassador Huang Zheng presented Credentials to President Peter M. Christian as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Peoples Republic of China in the Federated States of Micronesia

Palikir, Pohnpei -  On Wednesday, June 06, 2018, President Peter M. Christian received the Letter of Credence of H.E. Huang Zheng, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in the FSM, in an official ceremony held at the President’s conference room. 

During the ceremony, President Christian welcomed Ambassador Huang to the FSM and accepted his credentials as the new Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the FSM. The President expressed the FSM’s appreciation for the speedy appointment as an indication of China’s continued support and commitment to strengthen FSM and China relations. 

The President expressed the FSM’s appreciation for China’s continued assistance and aid to the FSM. He reiterated that the FSM stands ready to engage with China on regional and international issues. President Christian also indicated that the FSM Government will continue to work closely with Ambassador Huang during his tenure as Chinese Ambassador in the FSM; highlighting some areas of cooperation such as air transportation, road improvement projects, and other planning and collaboration efforts for economic development assistance. 
 

Ambassador Huang conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of President Xi Jinping and the government and people of China to President Peter M. Christian and to the government and people of the FSM. Ambassador Huang said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the FSM Sino relations. He indicated his desire to strengthening the friendship and partnership between the two countries and to bring bilateral relations to a new level.

In attendance of the ceremony were members of the President’s cabinet, staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs and staff of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.
