H.E. Arifin Tasrif presented Credentials to President Peter M. Christian as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federated States of Micronesia

 

On January 11, 2018, President Peter M. Christian received His Excellency Arifin Tasrif as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the FSM with residence in Tokyo, Japan.  

During the ceremony, President Christian congratulated him on his new appointment and for being the first to present his credentials (POC) in the year 2018. He further acknowledged the importance of Ambassador Tasrif’s presentation of credentials by bringing the largest delegation to Pohnpei.  He also expressed his confidence that the close relationship between FSM and Indonesia will continue to grow in the years ahead as we continue to engage in issues of mutual interest.

The Ambassador thanked the President for the warm welcome and despite his short stay here in the FSM, he later informed the President that some of the members of his delegation will remain to further engage with relevant entities that can provide to significantly contribute to the economic and social development for both the FSM and Indonesia. The President and Ambassador exchanged views on an array of regional and international issues such as climate change, transportation and human resource development among others.

 Accompanying Ambassador Tasrif, were his spouse, Madam Ratna M. Tasrif; Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun, Special Staff of the Foreign Minister on Strategic Issues; and officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Immigration, Defense, and Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Arifin Tasrif succeeds his predecessor Yusron Ihza Mahendra.

In attendance of the ceremony were members of the President’s Cabinet, staff from the President Office and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
