Mrs. Yvonne Adams Hawkins commissioned as First Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in the FSM

On March 10, Mrs. Yvonne J. Adams Hawkins, was officially received by Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Lorin S. Robert, as the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) in a brief ceremony held at the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs Conference Room.

Secretary Robert welcomed Mrs. Hawkins, congratulated her and acknowledged the significance of the event of marking the first official Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in the FSM. As the highlight of the ceremony, Secretary Robert presented to Mrs. Hawkins the Exequatur from FSM President Peter M. Christian affirming the President’s expressed consent and acceptance of her appointment as the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in the FSM.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the FSM, H.E. Roland Van Remoortele also expressed his gratitude to the Government of the FSM for accepting Mrs. Hawkins and that he hopes that such representation continues to strengthen the cooperation between the FSM and the Kingdom of Belgium, two diverse countries with strong historical ties.

In her remark, Mrs. Hawkins expressed her gratitude to Government of the FSM and Kingdom of Belgium for accepting her appointment.  She affirmed that it was a privilege and honor for her to take up the Honorary Consul post in the FSM.

At the ceremony Mrs. Hawkins was accompanied by her husband, Dave Hawkins, and several other family members.
