Vice-President Yosiwo P. George convenes the 9th National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) Meeting for August 11-12, 2016

As the Chairman of the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC), Vice President of the FSM, the Honorable Yosiwo P. George, is convening the 9th NTFC Meeting from 11-12 August 2016, at the Central Facility, Palikir, Pohnpei. The main purpose of this meeting is to bring participants and all stakeholders from the National Government and the FSM States together to prepare and discuss negotiation positions and offers for the upcoming final round of negotiations of the Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations (PACER) Plus. Other important issues to be discussed during this meeting include:

  • FSM’s Economic Development Roadmap
  • Development of FSM’s Fisheries Policy and related issues;
  • Trade and investment policy issues;
  • Private sector development issues; 
  • Sub-regional trade with other Micronesian Countries and other agreements of interest; and
  • September 2016 National Trade Fair in the margins of the Leaders Meeting.

Participants and stakeholders to the 9th NTFC Meeting include all cabinet Members from the FSM National Government, Chairmen of State Trade Facilitation Committees, representative from State Private Sector, representative from the NGO’s, and technical advisors from the Office of Chief trade Advisor (OCTA) and the Commonwealth Secretariat-Hub & Spokes Programme. 

Given the critical importance of the issues to be discussed during the 9th NTFC Meeting, all interested stakeholders residing in Pohnpei are invited to attend and participate in the discussions and deliberations, which are opened to the general public.
